Downtime and Recovery Plasma Fibroblast

Important Steps for Healing

aftercare

Aftercare

Like most skin rejuvenation treatments, there may be some side effects but the post-treatment downtime and recovery from the plasma device - plus the end result - is frequently shown to be far superior to treatment with other devices.

However, you as the technician are not in control of your client when they leave, and they must follow the aftercare guidelines carefully if they wish to enjoy optimal results and protect their investment in Plasma Fibroblast treatment.

It is of utmost importance for the client to follow the aftercare instructions given by you and to stay out of the sun for a minimum of 3 months post-treatment.

Preparation, consultation, and aftercare are key for a successful outcome. You as the technician will provide them with a specific detailed aftercare regime to follow as well as suggested products to use.

Downtime

Clients can resume work directly after treatment but will not look their best during the initial healing process, depending on the skin’s healing ability and the size of the area treated (usually 5 to 10 days) + for not all skin healing time is the same.

Most people resume work on the 6th or 7th day. Clients who smoke may not heal as quickly as non-smoking clients.

Phases Of Healing (Valuable handout to your clients)

Immediately Following the Treatment: (You will look a little red with spots)

  • Avoid the sun at all costs
  • You will experience a mild burning sensation “very tolerable” this is similar to sunburn which should resolve within a few hours; however, this depends upon your sensitivity tolerance and for some this discomfort may last a bit longer.
  • You are allowed to use a cold compress wrapped in a clean dry cloth or clean jiffy bag for relieving any discomfort or to prevent swelling only 8 hours post treatment. (Never apply any wet substance to the area) and the use of a non-aspirin pain reliever, e.g., Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or similar that relieves fever and headaches, and other common aches and pains
  • Swelling might set in later the day or the following day
  • You may continue with your daily activities as normal

Next 48 Hours: You will not look your best, covered with red spots & swollen in some cases

  • nb! nb! it’s of utmost importance not to get an infection in the area worked on for the next 48 hours post-treatment
  • Do not touch the area, do not cover the area with plasters or anything, do not apply any creams, lotions, or makeup, except what your technician prescribed
  • Avoid the sun at all costs
  • Expect some redness, dots & swelling
  • Area can feel a little hot & looks red in color
  • There may be occasional weeping for a few days post-treatment. This is a natural healing response
  • No shaving over the treated area allowed until it is fully healed
  • No showers until day 4
  • Swelling might occur especially in the mornings
  • Do not be tempted to rub or brush the area to aid the removal of the crusts. “Never rub or scratch” or use exfoliating products. This could result in “scarring and/or pigmentation”

Day 4 – 5+ After Your Treatment: You will still not look your best, covered with brown carbon crusts (dots) & still swollen in some cases

  • Avoid the sun at all costs
  • As the treated area begins to heal, you will notice the drying out, a process whereby a brown crust develops on the surface of the skin. This will flake off after a few days (4 – 7 days) Sometimes longer depending on the area treated, e.g., tummy tuck etcetera
  • Do not pick crusts off as this will delay the healing process and could cause “scarring red spots and hyper pigmentation”
  • It is normal for the area that has been treated to feel tight, itchy, and dry
  • Occasional weeping will settle

Healing Stages Up To 12 Weeks

Day 7 - 14 After Your Treatment :( You start to look like human again :)

  • Dry skin: your skin might look more wrinkled in some areas than before treatment and the skin might feel dry, peel, or flake. You may notice a “sandpaper” texture; this is treated tissue working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated. This is normal and will only last a few days
  • During this healing period your normal moisturizer may be too occlusive, the product you should use, be non-irritating and non-clogging, or else you could develop breakouts so please consider using aftercare products that your technician suggests or products containing Hyaluronic acid (only to start using after all scabs are off). Reapply whenever your skin feels dry
  • NB! For three months after your treatments, avoid using skincare products that contain glycolic retina a, salicylic acid, or any other active exfoliating agents, as this will irritate your skin.
  • All other harsh facial treatments on the same area should be avoided whilst your skin is healing up to 6 weeks
redness and dot marks

  • Redness& dots: Most resolves during the first week after treatment, but a rosy pink/bronzing “glow” can remain for several weeks after the carbon crusts (dots) have fallen off, that’s when you can apply your normal coverage of makeu
  • You absolutely must now begin to apply SPF 50+ Sunscreen while your skin is still in the healing stages (pink in color) when you are out and about, and you should continue to do so for at least the next 3 months (and ideally forever). The area(s) treated have produced brand new skin and may burn / pigment without adequate protection from the sun
  • It is important to completely avoid the sun and artificial light sources such as sun beds whilst the skin is still healing which will combat the risk of pigmentation occurring after treatment
  • Always wear your hat and sunglasses when out and about

Healing Stages Up To 12 Week

Day 14 up to 12 weeks After Your Treatment: (You look fresher and younger) all other areas except for the face can take much longer to return to its normal form and color!

  • Enjoy the new you
  • For some, additional treatment may be required after 8 - 12 weeks for maximum results
  • There are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure
  • To consider the use of topical antioxidants to fight sun damage, hyper pigmentation such as a Vitamin C serum (only to start using this 6-week post-treatment)

Are Facial Expressions Affected By Plasma Fibroblast?

Unlike Botox which paralyzes the underlying muscle to soften the face wrinkles and expression lines. Plasma Fibroblast lift will keep the facial expressions normal, which adds to the beauty of the results. There is no risk of over-tightening and over-correction, which may happen with other aesthetic procedures.
